8 Reasons Why No Other Indian Film Director Can Match SS Rajamouli

In films, a director needs to be not just the one who calls out, start camera, action, and cut but he should also be the one who has the clearest idea about the final output and should be on top of even the minute thing related to that project. Such directors are called the master filmmakers and we always count them in a different class of their own. And when we talk about such genre of directors, the first name that comes to mind among Indian filmmakers is none other than SS Rajamouli. It won't be wrong to say that Rajamouli is the most maverick filmmaker Indian cinema has seen till date. No one can easily match his style, charisma and the magic he weaves on the 70 mm screen. And there are not one but 8 reasons to claim that no Indian directors can match SS Rajamouli. To find out which are they, scroll down.

  1. Master Storyteller

A filmmaker, above all, needs to be a master storyteller. Among current Indian directors, the best, in this case, is SS Rajamouli, without a doubt. The hardest story to tell is one that is an epic-fantasy-dramas and Rajamouli can give Zack Snyder or James Cameron a run for their money, in this regard. There will be critics of the cinematography, sound design and other technical aspects of his films but no critic can truthfully say that Rajamouli is not a master storyteller. All his movies are a living example for this.

  2. Vision & Visualization Scale

Be it Yamadonga, Ega, Baahubali or any other of his movies, you have to agree to the fact that the storyline of each one of these movies aren't something that any director can even think or imagine. And that is where the vision of Rajamouli is. He starts to envision a script from where other directors stop. And that is why the visualization scale of all of his movies are massive, elegant and yet very simple. Why simple because he doesn't put up an extravagant visual show where there is no need of one. He exactly knows what he needs and where he needs it, in his movies.

  3. Level of Dedication

It is not that every director is not dedicated to their movie. But, SS Rajamouli takes the level of dedication to insane heights. During the time when popular directors are making movies one after the other, SSR dedicated 5+ years of his career for just a duology. Not just Baahubali, take any movie from his filmography, the level to which he has been dedicated to that movie will be unimaginable. This dedication of his is the main reason that whatever he makes, it becomes a benchmark and that is why with every of his movie, he outsmarts himself.

  4. Thirst for Perfection

Every director will love to have perfection in their final outcome. Due to various reasons, there is a line where all others stop at going after perfection. But, Rajamouli is so beyond that said line, that he sees it as just a dot! To that level, he is ready to go for perfection. And he is not among those filmmakers who think that perfection can be given to a shot in the post-production stage. He makes it sure that he can achieve perfection or be at least in the vicinity of it, technically and otherwise.

  5. Leadership Quality

Take Baahubali duology itself for example. A team of God knows how many people worked on this project for over 5 years. And till date, we haven't heard a single story or even a rumor of any sort of rift inside the team. Not even the spot boy on the sets had even a single bad word to say about their captain, Rajamouli. Over to this, he was able to keep #WKKB (Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali) a secret for this long time. Is there a need for another proof to prove that SSR is the best team lead you can get?

  6. Recognizing Talent

If you look at SS Rajamouli, the scale and scope of all his movies are massive. But he selects actors not based on their star value but on their talent and their ability to become the character. When Baahubali was offered to Prabhas, he wasn't a star who was well known to the non-Telugu audience. Still, SSR stuck to him as his lead, as he was sure that only Prabhas can be the Baahubali that he has envisioned of. Same is the case with any other actor/actress and the character they have got in his movies. And this is where you can surely say that he can recognize talent from even a mile away.

  8. Success Rate

If you are including Baahubali: The Conclusion, then 11 movies have so far read, 'A film by SS Rajamouli'. And all of them are a minimum of superhits as well as favored by critics. You can't find another currently working director in Indian films who has done more than 10 movies and still has a 100% track record, both at the box office and among critics. That is something only SSR was able to achieve and in that league, he stands alone.

  9. Unfazed by Success

Every SS Rajamouli movie had been a bigger success than the previous one. From being a maverick director, he has grown into the class of James Cameron, Stephen Spielberg, and Christopher Nolan. He has taken Indian Cinema to an altogether different level of perfection and visualization. Yet, he is the most down to earth and simplest filmmaker you can find. NO ONE will dispute that all the success has never run over his head. He is unaffected by all the praise and success like Superman is from bullets.
