Thala is very specific in choosing the scripts and he has climbed the steps of stardom only due to his perfect choice of movies. But, there are few films which were rejected by him made a career for other actors and they were all blockbusters, as well. We have compiled eight such films which got rejected by Ajith but went on to make a mark at the BO. Guess how it would have been if Thala had starred in these eight films!!!

  1. Ko (2011)

    Well, all know that 'Ko' came to Jiiva's hands after being dropped by Suriya and Simbu. But, it is a lesser known matter that our Thala was the first person to whom this script was presented. But, Ajith was unable to take this project. Later, Jiiva became the lead in this political thriller directed by KV Anand which became a landmark in his career and also a huge success at the BO.

  2. Naan Kadavul (2009)

    The National award winning film was a breakthrough in Arya’s career. His depiction as an Aghori, a cannibalistic sadhu earned him name and fame along with the film’s success. Apparently, Bala initially thought of casting Ajith in this role but it did not materialise.

  3. Ghajini (2005)

    ‘Ghajini’ was initially titled as ‘Mirattal’ and the primary photo shoot happened with Ajith and Asin. Due to unknown reasons, it was later renamed as ‘Ghajini’ and Suriya was selected as the lead. Suriya’s role as a person suffering from anterograde amnesia won him accolades from critics and fans along with Best Actor award in the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.

    ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ was yet another film which was missed by Ajith and it went to the hands of Suriya. As a cop, Suriya proved his mettle and with Jyothika by his side, no wonder the action film ruled the Box – office in 2003.

    Chiyaan did complete justice to Aarusaamy’s role and his mass intro was the highlight in ‘Saamy’. As a cop, Vikram was a perfect fit. But Hari had plans to cast Ajith initially but Thala said no and Vikram grabbed the offer. The rest is history.

    ‘Run’ directed by Lingusamy was super-duper hit in Kollywood and its success prompted makers to remake it in Hindi as well as Telugu. Remarkably, this was the first flick which portrayed Madhavan as an action hero. And, his role Siva won him laurels from all corners. Not many know that this script was initially offered to Thala.
