Actors who enjoy long career often reinvent themselves and sometimes it is the filmmakers who help them get a new lease of life with their guidance or by creating new characterisations. Today is the 10 Years Of Khaleja - the superstar Mahesh Babu cult classic directed by Trivikram Srinivas. He thanked the director for reinventing him as an actor and expressed his wish to work with him soon.

But Mahesh is the sort of actor who is always one to present the audience with newer subjects and reinvented himself many times during his illustrious career which completed 21 years as a lead actor and about 4 decades as an actor. Here is the list of films where Mahesh reinvented himself as an actor and the films which helped him become the superstar.

1. Koduju Diddina Kapuram By Superstar Krishna

The superstar Krishna directorial presented Mahesh as a mass hero even when he’s just in early teens. Though the film also stars the evergreen superstar Krishna and Vijayashanthi, the previously kid actors Mahesh had shown unlimited skills as a potential star hero to be and won the hearts of the Telugu audience.

2. Muraari By Krishna Vamsi

While Rajakumarudu introduced Mahesh as a lead man it was Muraari which had shown him as an actor. The rawness of a youngster is replaced by Althea assuredness of a veteran in this Krishna Vamsi directorial. Krishna Vamsi’s role is acknowledged many times by Mahesh.

3. Nijam By Teja

While Muraari brought the subtlety of the actor to the fore, Teja directorial Nijam made him more expressive on the screen. He duly won the Nandi Award for the Best Actor.

4. Pokiri By Puri Jagannadh

Forget subtlety. The loud and aggressive characterisation given to Mahesh by Puri Jagannadh isn’t matched till now and Pokiri remains a huge landmark not just in his career but also in Telugu cinema. His dialogue delivery opened up compared to earlier films.

5. Khaleja By Trivikram Srinivas

We can say Mahesh’s career before Khaleja and post-Khaleja. That’s the sort of impact the film had on him as an actor. While the previous films helped him evolve as an actor Trivikram unleashed a never before seen Mahesh in this film. He opened up more as an actor.

6. 1: Nenokkadine By Sukumar

While he was about to become monotonous as a chatterbox (the effect can be observed in Aagadu later), Sukumar brought the Hollywood style subtlety back into Mahesh performance with spectacular results. He mixed his pre-Khaleja subtlety and post-Khaleja openness to great effect.

7. Sarileru Neekevvaru By Anil Ravipudi

After a long long time, Mahesh rocked as a mass actor and the change is courtesy Anil Ravipudi. After back to back urbane and sophisticated roles which became prey to countless memes, Mahesh is reinvented as a mass Masala actor to an extent by this 2020 Sankranthi release. The result is a 200+ crore grosser.
