18 Telugu Stars Who Breathed Their Last This Year

Bollu Satyanarayna was a successful producer who passed on August 29 due to cancer. He produced numerous films in Tollywood of which some of them are 'Mayabazaar', 'Missamma' and 'Mudhamandharam'.

P Madhusudhan Reddy was a successful audio mixer who breathed his last on April 20. He passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Some of that he worked on 'Bommarillu', 'Kalisumdam Raa' and 'Gulabi'. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Comedian Potti Rambabu passed away at his residence on 29 December. The comedian was known for his short stature and shot to fame with his performance in 'Eeswar'. He suffered a brain stroke this morning and the doctors declared him dead on arrival . He was the fifth comedian to pass away this year.

Ahuthi Prasad was a versatile actor who shot to fame with 'Ahuthi'. Although he was a villain in 'Ahuthi', the Telugu Cinema industry cast him various other roles which he excelled in. He won two Nandi awards and made a name for himself before losing his life to cancer on January 4.

Ganesh Patro is one of those personalities who cannot be replaced with anyone. He was a successful screen writer who started first screenplay in 1975. Since then, he penned the scripts for various Telugu films, most of which turned out to be blockbusters. Some of his notable works include Maro Charithra, Akali Rajyam, Rudraveena, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and many others. He demised on January 5.

V. B. Rajender Prasad was a eminent director and producer who forayed into Telugu Cinema with Dussehra Bullodu in 1973. His dedication earned him the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award, the highest honorary award which is given away to the Telugu film personalities. He breathed his last due to a respiratory ailment on January 13.

There might be numerous comedians in Tollywood but there is only one M.S. Narayana. Despite his late start at the age of 47, the comedian carved a niche in Telugu Cinema with his versatility. In his 19 year old acting career, he has acted in more 700 films and won 5 Nandi awards. Unfortunately, the comedian left the Telugu Cinema in a lurch by passing away on 23rd January due to multiple organ failure.

Ramanaidu is one of those gentlemen who built an empire from meager amount. His production banner Suresh Productions, which has a success ratio of 80%, has produced some of the most successful films such as Ramudu Bheemudu, Prem Nagar, Bobbili Raja and Gopala Gopala. For his contribution to Indian Cinema, the producer was honoured with Dada Saheb Phalke Award which is the highest accolade in Indian Cinema. The well-respected producer passed away from prostate cancer on February 18. The producer's legacy is being carried forward by his sons, Suresh and Victory Venkatesh.

It's a pity that Aarthi, who was only 31 years old, had to leave the world so early. At the age of 17, she debuted in Telugu Cinema with Nuvvu Naaku Nachav and she instantly shot to fame. However, due to a failed love-fling, her career plummeted as she emerged into the news for all the unwanted reasons. After a failed marriage, she breathed her last on June 6 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Maestro M. S. Viswanathan has composed music for innumerable films for South Indian languages. In Tollywood, he composed for some blockbusters such as Maro Charithra, 47 Rojulu, Chandirani, Akali Rajyam and Ida Katha Kaadu. The maestro succumbed kidney cancer and he passed away on July 14.

Edida Nageswara Rao was a notable producer who produced some of the best films in Telugu Cinema. His production banner Poornodaya Movie Creations is notable for producing the blockbusters such as Siri Siri Muvva, Sankarabharanam, Sagara Sangamam, Aapadbandhuvudu. He breathed his last on October 4 and the industry mourned his death.

Manorama was a multilingual actresses who acted in more than 1000 films. In her vast career, she was honoured with various awards. Before she passed away, she was quizzed whether she had any regrets about her life and she emphatically replied that she was content with her successful life. She passed away on October 10 due to multiple organ failure. Many Tamil film celebrities and TN Chief Minister Jayalalithaa paid respects to her.

Kallu Chidambaram was known for his squint eye which he used to his advantage. He debuted in the 'Kallu' and won a Nandi award. In 1995, he shot to fame with 'Ammoru' where he enthralled the audiences with his performance. On October 18, the comedian passed away due to health ailments common to old age.

Mada was incredibly famous for his eunuch portrayal in 'Chillaru Kottu Chittemma'. Since then, the actor was typecast as a eunuch in more than 70 films. However, it's noting that he has acted in hundreds of films before he faded away. At 65 years, the actor passed away due to old age ailments on October 25.

Kondavalasa was a stage and film actor who was famous for his one-liner 'Aithey Okay'. Surprisingly, he made a name for himself immediately after his debut performance in 'Avunu Valliddaru Ishtapaddaru'. Since then, he has acted in various Telugu films. The comedian passed away due to an infection on November 2.

Satyamurthy was a renowned writer who penned the scripts for more than 90 films. Some of his scripts have achieved phenomenal success such as Khaidi No. 786, Pedarayudu, Abhilasha and Devatha. The writer passed away at age of 61 on December 14. His legacy is being continued by his son Devi Sri Prasad, a successful music composer.

Srinivasa Chakravarthy was a story writer who penned scripts for various blockbusters such as Patnam Vachina Pativratalu, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. The successful writer passed away on December 14 due to some health ailments.

Ranganath's death is the most depressing in this list. The versatile actor, who was previously a railway employee, was known for his portrayals in 'Panthulammaa', 'America Ammayi' and 'Kalisundam Raa'. After his wife's death, the dignified actor went into a depression and isolated himself from the world. On December 19, the lonely actor committed suicide by hanging himself. His last rites were performed on December 20.
