10 Yesteryear Classics Which Turn 50 This Year

The year 1966 wasn’t different to 1965 which again saw an increase of more color films than black and whites. The year also saw the decline of the superstar trio – Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar who were getting replaced by the next generation. The first release of the going-to-be-superstar Rajesh Khanna’s ‘Aakhri Khat’ happened that year. The year saw a few big films biting the dust like – ‘Dil Diya Dard Liya’, ‘Teesri Kasam’, ‘Amrapali’ and ‘Anupama’. The debacle of ‘Teesri Kasam’ led to the death of its producer and lyricist Shailendra who passed away that year in December. Ten films which made it big and deserve a repeat watch have been compiled below.
