Making movies based on sports is not a new idea. Several international filmmakers have been touching upon this genre since ages. Even our own Telugu cinema made some of the remarkable movies weaving an engaging story around a particular sport. While unavoidable movie elements like love, drama, revenge and comedy have had their own share, but a sport playing a major role in a Telugu film has been rare. We have listed 10 such Telugu movies where sport played an integral part in the proceedings.

Revolving around a group of youngsters who passionately love the sport of Kabaddi, Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu stands as one of the very realistic films made in Telugu. 6. Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi (2003)

Although the film is predominantly about mother-son relationship, without kickboxing as the key element, it would have become another overdramatic sentimental Telugu movie. Asin, Jayasudha and Prakash Raj, everyone gave top-notch performances in this Puri Jagan film.
