Johnny Lever, the veteran comedian actor has not only entertained us with his antics but has also won hearts with his comic timing and acting, over the years. Known as one of the first stand up comedians in India, he has served the silver screen for more than 35 years. A recipient of many popular awards, he has acted in over three hundred Bollywood films. As a tribute to his brilliant comical portrayal of different characters, we pick the ten best comedy scenes of the genius who has made us laugh our wits out, year after year.

Khiladi (1992)

Abbas-Mustan’s first big hit where Johnny played a Malyali who is the caretaker of a guest house. He witnesses a murder in the guest house and is called for enquiry by the police. Akshay and Deepak Tijori who are involved try to hide themselves while Shakti Kapoor investigates.

Baazigar (1993)

Johnny plays the head servant in the Chopra mansion who suffers from amnesia. Though he doesn’t agree suffering from it but tries to make tea for the guests who have come to see Chopra’s daughter. Dinesh Hingoo adds value by his antics and laughter to this comical scene.

Judaai (1997)

Raj Kanwar’s bold love triangle where a girl sells all her belongings to marry an already married man with kids. Johnny plays a struggling actor who falls in love with a girl he doesn’t know is actually mute and marries her. But on the first night realises that she is mute. What follows is absolutely funny.

Dulhe Raja (1998)

This Harmesh Malhotra comedy flick had the best of Govinda-Kader Khan-Johnny trio. Johnny plays Manager to Kader Khan who owns a hotel which is encroached by Govinda’s dhaba. The comedy sequences between the three will keep you in splits.

Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain (1999)

Satish Kaushik’s take on contract marriage where Anil Kapoor and Kajol play the leads. Johnny Lever plays a photographer who owes money to Satish Kaushik. Satish phones Johnny to ask for his money but watch how the latter’s antics on the phone frustrate the former.

E. Niwas’s remake of a Telugu hit where two friends try to kidnap a businessman’s daughter in return of a ransom. Johnny Lever plays Aslam Bhai who is a ‘bhai’ but hearts in hearts wants to become an actor.
