Bappi Lahiri or better known as the 'Disco King of Indian music had his humble beginnings in Calcutta. Born into a family with a rich tradition in classical music, he got his first break in a Bengali film, ‘Daadu’ (1972). Then the composer went on to popularize the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema with a desi flavour and ruled the roost for the entire 80's decade. But Bappida is still equally celebrated for his melodious compositions in Bengali cinema. On occasion of his birthday, we remember some his memorable Bengali tracks.
